Item numbers on the rise: Deepika and Kareena next

Why do all these ‘respectable’ actresses have to resort to this cheap gimmick? Ever since ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ became a huge hit, every female lead in Bollywood seems to think that this is the way to go.

We don’t blame Munni for all this hype, because Malaika Arora has been primarily an item girl. She’s never done any serious acting, and is famous for her looks and her dance moves alone. Therefore ‘Munni Badnaam Hui’ was just another really successful item number. ‘Sheila Ki Jawani’ saw Katrina Kaif being an item girl. Katrina, one of the most successful females in Bollywood, didn’t need to increase her popularity with an item number.

However, this did lead her arch rival, Deepika Padukone to also take up an item number. Deepika is doing an item song for a movie she isn’t even a part of. The movie, Dum Maro Dum, actually has Bipasha Basu in the lead. Unfortunately, Deepika might just be criticized for this step of hers, because while the producers and choreographers have tried their best to make her look hot, this song will soon be forgotten. It does not even match the previous two hits because firstly, the song is actually really bad. Secondly, it’s looks like such a desperate attempt at trying to make Deepika look hotter than Katrina.

 Next in line for the throne is Kareena Kapoor. While she has done an item number before, we fear for her because this time round, the song has to be hotter and trashier than Maliaka, Katrina and Deepika.  The upcoming item number by her can be seen in her movie, Ra. One.

Katrina Kaif bullies Ranbir Kapoor

Leaves will never sway unless the wind blows. An actor once said that it’s just a plain lie if a pair says that they share great chemistry on screen and yet not get attracted to each other. If we are to go by this claim, it’s difficult to describe the relationship that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif share. The chemistry between them is said to be great.

Ranbir and Katrina had great time shooting for Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. They pulled each other’s legs and yet got along very well. Ranbir philosophically said that chemistry is something that the characters share and not between two individuals. He however added that he is happy that the audience like the chemistry they share in the promos.

Katrina has her own take on the term ‘chemistry’. She said that great chemistry is an outcome of people who have the same vision. But giving the relationship a twist, Ranbir revealed that Katrina bullied him while he complimented her.

Giving a hint on the story, Katrina revealed that Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is an ordinary love story about ordinary people leading ordinary lives that is told in a very unusual way. Ranbir added that it is a complete entertainer with lovely story and not just a bunch of jokes.

Well, let’s wait and watch what the pair in offer for the film lovers. Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani is all set for release on November 6.
